Prominent personalities that included the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, ex-Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, among others attended the funeral prayer of the late Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abba Sunusi.

Arewa PUNCH reports that the funeral was held at the Kano Emir’s Palace on Wednesday and presided over by the Chief Imam of Kano, Sheikh Prof. Sani Zahraddeen.

It attracted a mammoth crowd from within and outside the state.

After the prayers, the remains of the late Galadiman Kano, who was the father of the Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, was taken to Gandun Albasa Graveyard for interment.

The governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, and other top government officials, witnessed the burial of the late Galadiman Kano.

Late Abbas Sunusi passed away at the age of 91 after a prolonged illness. He is survived by 35 children, wives, and many relatives.

Yusuf described his demise as a great loss to the state and national traditional institutions, noting that he was one of the longest-serving titleholders in the country.

He expressed concern over the vacuum left by the late Galadiman Kano, considering his vast experience in the administration of the emirate, and concluded that it would be hard to fill.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest level of paradise.

At the house of the late Galadiman Kano, the Deputy Governor Gwarzo, who spoke on behalf of the governor and the government, extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, and prayed to God in His mercy to comfort them during this difficult time.

Responding, the deceased’s eldest son, Abdullahi Abbas, expressed appreciation over the concern shown by the governor and people of the state on the demise of their beloved father and prayed to Allah to reward them abundantly.
