NFF names coaches for Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets



The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Abdu Maikaba as the head coach of the Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles, and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as the head coach of the Nigeria U17 team, Golden Eaglets.

In a statement issued by the NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, the federation said its Executive Committee approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee for the appointments.

Maikaba returns to youth national team football after previously coaching the Golden Eaglets and serving as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles during the tenure of Paul Aigbogun.

The experienced tactician has managed several top Nigerian clubs, including Enyimba, Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars and Plateau United.

He also guided Akwa United to victory in the 2017 Federation Cup, Nigeria’s oldest domestic football competition.

Meanwhile, Uwejamomere takes charge of the Golden Eaglets after serving for several years as an analyst with the team and the women’s national football team.

He currently serves as head of the academy at Sporting Lagos FC, which recently gained promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Uwejamomere has also worked in youth development roles with Millwall FC, Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest in England.
