
.Arrests 2 suspects, rescues 28 victims, recovers various items

Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has smashed a baby factory in an overnight operation at Okuju, Ilado, Road 1, Zone 1 Area of Olorunda, Badagry area of Lagos State.
Recall that the Commandant General , NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Audi, PhD., mni, OFR had earlier directed all State commandants to deploy technology driven intelligence towards combatting criminalities across the country, particularly in Lagos State Command.
The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, while addressing newsmen on Friday, in Badagry disclosed that the command’s operatives in the axis bursted the syndicate between Wednesday, 15th and Thursday, 16th April,
during a strategically mounted surveillance which lasted for three weeks eventually
According to a statement by Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, of Lagos State Command,
Oluwaseun Abolurin, the overnight operation, which was successfully carried out by the command’s operatives in Badagry resulted into the immediate arrest of two suspects linked to the operation of the baby factory in the aforementioned house with their victims supposedly deceived through a Facebook account dedicated towards the recruitment of pregnant ladies willing to sell off their babies to interested buyers at post – delivery between N500,000 and N1,000,000
The operatives also rescued 28 victims out from the crime scene including: 17, heavily pregnant women, one male adult, 10 children including infants (names of suspects withheld).
Preliminary investigation also revealed that one of the victims lost her pregnancy as a result of the unhealthy environmental condition she was vulnerable to just like others.
Other items recovered at the crime scene also include the following exhibits; one pumping machine, one generator set, six standing fans, two gas cylinders (12kg and 6kg respectively ), one burner, two large cooking pots, five android phones, four large mats and assorted food items.
The State Commandant has condemned the dastardly, inhumane and barbaric act often perpetrated by some desperate members of the society in the guise of chasing money through any crooked means.
Keshinro said the suspects and victims have been immediately taken to the office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for a proper hand over and further investigation into the crime.
He assured the general public that the culprits will be duly brought to book.
