The Anambra Atmosphere Police Command has arrested one Alfred Bassey, 40, over the unexpected demise of his seven-year-old son at a building website online alongside the Trans-Nkisi Series, within the Onitsha a part of the environment.
A remark on Friday through the command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated police operatives connected to the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters arrested the suspect the similar hour at about 9.30 am.
Ikenga stated the boy’s useless frame used to be present in a soakaway pit dug within the rejected uncompleted construction on December 11, 2024, nearest the suspect had left the kid for an unknown vacation spot.
He stated, “Police operatives connected to the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters on Friday, December 13, through 9.30 am, arrested one Alfred Bassey (m), elderly 40 years, and local of Abi in Go River Atmosphere.
“The arrest used to be in reference to an ongoing investigation of a reported case of the unexpected demise of a seven-year-old kid at a building website online alongside Trans-Nkisi Series, Onitsha.
“Initial investigation unhidden that the daddy of the sufferer forcibly took the minor from the mum and has been residing with him in an uncompleted construction at Trans-Nkisi Series Onitsha.
“Furthermore, on December 11, 2024, the lifeless body of the child was found in a soakaway pit dug in the abandoned uncompleted building after the suspect left the child for an unknown destination. The body of the child was later recovered and taken to the hospital before he was confirmed dead by a doctor.”
He added that the environment Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, saddened through this building, admonished oldsters to prioritise their youngsters’s well-being in opposition to any variations with their spouses, to keep away from exposing them (the kids) to emotional and mental shock and/or demise.
“The CP further directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a more detailed investigation,” the remark concluded.
