ASUU contributors protest in Gombe, call for sacked colleagues’ reinstatement



The Instructional Workforce Union of Universities, the Federal College of Kashere, Gombe Climate department, on Tuesday organised a harmony rally tough that the governing councils of a few universities interfere when it comes to contributors whose appointments have been terminated.

Our correspondent experiences that the academics have been allegedly victimised on the Lagos Climate College, Ojo; Kogi Climate College Ayingba; Ebonyi Climate College, Abakaliki; Ambrose Alli College, Ekpoma; Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu College, Igbariam and Federal College of Generation Owerri.

Addressing contributors one after the other all the way through the protest, the department Chairman; Dr Shehu El-Rasheed, and Secretary; Mohammed Musa, decried the demanding situations in their colleagues, urging the governing councils of the affected establishments to restate, advertise and pay withheld salaries.

El-Rasheed stated, “Our colleagues in those universities are present process other methods of victimisation similar to unlawful termination of appointments, denial of promotions, withholding of salaries.

“One of the vital instances are in courts of regulation however on account of useless delays in passage of judgment by means of the courts dealing with the instances, the affected colleagues are dealing with untold depression below this tough financial status.

“We hold the belief that justice delayed is justice denied.”

Future tough justice following their extended ordeals, El-Rasheed harped at the want for governing councils to unravel the problems that have introduced hardships to the affected contributors.

“The ASUU-FUK is calling on the concerned governing councils and visitors of the respective universities to take decisive action to resolve the lingering issues to pave the way for a smooth operation of the universities,” he added.
