ADC will end banditry in Nigeria, says Rauf Aregbesola

The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has urged Nigerians to embrace the party, saying that when it forms government, it will end banditry and other violent crimes.

Aregbesola stated this in Ilesa, Osun State, shortly after his ADC membership card was revalidated on Wednesday.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, ADC Directorate of Media and Publicity, Osun State, Oluwaseun Abosede, obtained in Osogbo.

Aregbesola told his supporters during the revalidation exercise held at his Ward 8, Ifofin, in Ilesa East, Osun State, that he chose his new party due to its discipline and integrity, among other good attributes.

Aregbesola said, “OGBENI (Aregbesola) appreciated the work done by the committee and urged every Nigerian to come on board for us to enthrone a good government that will end banditry, insecurity, and incidents like the one that occurred in Kwara, where some unknown gunmen attacked a church, killed some members, and kidnapped others.

“He told the people that ADC as a party did not come from heaven, but he chose to progressively move with the party that has adopted character, courage, competence, discipline, and integrity as the core of their political engagement and institutional conduct in the service of the Nigerian people. This is the party that will lead Nigeria out of this current quagmire.”

Earlier, the Membership Registration and Revalidation Committee, led by the Secretary of the committee, Senator Sodiq Yaradua, joined by other chieftains of the party, launched the membership registration and revalidation exercise.

In his remarks, Yaradua explained that the new ADC membership card contains 12 advanced security features to prevent duplication and ensure integrity.

He added, “The first person to be revalidated in Nigeria under the new ADC system was Aregbesola,” urging members of the party to register in their various wards.

He also disclosed that an online platform for membership registration would soon be unveiled to ensure a seamless experience for both old and young members.

“Hon. Kamil Akinlade Mudashir, Osun State Chairman, ADC Membership Mobilisation, Revalidation & Registration Committee, thereafter revalidated Ogbeni as a member of the ADC,” the release further read.

Aregbesola has been speaking on ADC plans if the party gets the opportunity to produce a President for the country.

The PUNCH reported on September 13, 2025, that Aregbesola said ADC was determined to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, unveiling a grassroots mobilisation strategy aimed at securing victories both at the federal level and in Lagos State.

Aregbesola made the declaration during a gathering in Lagos on Saturday, where the leader of the Labour Party’s Conscience Forum, Moshood Salvador, formally led his members into the ADC fold.

The event drew the presence of the Lagos State leadership of the party, as well as zonal and ward leaders of the Conscience Forum across the 20 local government areas and 37 LCDAs of Lagos state.

In his address to the defecting members, Aregbesola commended the executives and members of the Conscience Forum while charging them to commit themselves fully to the ADC’s mission of capturing power both at the federal and Lagos State levels in 2027.

He pledged that the ADC will not only produce Nigeria’s next president but also secure Alausa, stressing that victory will be made possible by the strategy where one committed member must bring in ten new members, and each of those ten must, in turn, recruit ten more.

He emphasised that once replicated nationwide, this formula would guarantee overwhelming dominance for the ADC in the 2027 elections.
