The All Progressives Congress, France Chapter, has welcomed the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, into the ruling party.
PUNCH Online reports that Lawal dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC on Monday, following a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Gusau.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Chairperson of the chapter, Amina Suzuki, described Lawal’s defection as a major political development that strengthens the coalition supporting President Bola Tinubu.
Suzuki said the governor and his deputy governor’s move reflects growing confidence among political leaders and citizens in the reform-driven leadership of the president.
She added that the development signals increasing political support for the ruling party in the North-West geopolitical zone.
“The North-West remains one of the most influential voting blocs in Nigeria’s democratic process. With this significant political realignment in Zamfara, it is increasingly evident that President Tinubu’s leadership and policies are gaining widespread acceptance across the region,” Suzuki said.
She added that Lawal’s decision to join the APC represents not only a personal political step but also a broader endorsement of the Renewed Hope agenda of the Tinubu administration.
According to her, the development further strengthens the party’s political structure ahead of future elections.
“As members of the APC in the diaspora, we see this development as a clear indication that the North-West is rallying behind President Tinubu. The people of the region understand the importance of stability, economic reforms and national unity being pursued by this administration,” she said.
Suzuki said members of the APC in the diaspora would continue to mobilise support and promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration globally.
She also urged political leaders and citizens across the country to support the APC-led government in sustaining reforms, strengthening national security and advancing Nigeria’s economic recovery.
