UTME 2026: JAMB releases first batch of results

…detains three over score falsification

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the first batch of results for candidates who sat the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday.

Candidates can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration. The Board clarified that, for now, candidates can only view their scores, as printing of results is not yet available.

In a statement posted on his X handle, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesperson, warned candidates against attempting to manipulate the SMS results issued through the official platform.

He said any effort to alter or fabricate scores to mislead others, including parents, constitutes a serious criminal offence.

Benjamin disclosed that the Board has already taken action against such misconduct, revealing that two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for engaging in result falsification using artificial intelligence and other electronic means.

He added that any candidate found culpable would face the full consequences of the law.

JAMB further noted that the UTME exercise is still ongoing and results will continue to be released in batches as they are processed.

“The Board treats such misconduct with the utmost gravity. Currently, two candidates and one parent are in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means. Any candidate found culpable will face the full consequences of the law.

The examination is ongoing, and results will continue to be released as they become available,” he said
