US, Israel strike Iranian five oil facilities, four killed

Overnight airstrikes by the United States and Israel have hit five oil-related facilities in and around Iran’s capital, Tehran, leaving four people dead, according to an Iranian official.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, Keramat Veyskarami, disclosed the development during an interview with state television on Sunday.

According to him, the strikes targeted four oil depots and a petroleum products transport centre located in Tehran and the neighbouring Alborz province.

“Last night, four oil depots and a petroleum products transport centre in Tehran and Alborz were attacked by enemy aircraft,” Veyskarami said.

He confirmed that four personnel were killed in the attack, including two oil tanker drivers, while several facilities sustained damage.

However, he said emergency teams were able to contain the fires caused by the strikes.

Smoke from the overnight fires reportedly hung over Tehran, casting a dark haze across parts of the city as residents woke up on Sunday morning. Many residents also reported a strong smell of burning in the air.

Despite the damage, Veyskarami assured that the country maintains sufficient gasoline reserves.

The latest attack comes amid an ongoing conflict that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, triggering a wider war in the Middle East.

Following the strikes, Iran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and US interests across the region, escalating tensions and drawing global attention to the conflict.

The hostilities have since disrupted energy and transport networks in parts of the region while raising concerns about broader geopolitical instability.
