UAE blockchain project targets Africa expansion

An Abu Dhabi-backed blockchain initiative is targeting Africa through a new partnership with M-Pesa, aiming to expand digital financial infrastructure to millions of users. The ADI Foundation plans to scale its ADI Chain across emerging markets, with Africa expected to account for a significant share of its targeted one billion users by 2030. By integrating with M-Pesa’s vast mobile money network, the project hopes to deepen financial inclusion for individuals and small businesses while accelerating digital transformation across the continent. As part of its roadmap, the foundation also plans to launch a stablecoin in 2026 to facilitate international payments. The move builds on Africa’s growing appetite for crypto and stablecoins as tools to manage currency volatility. Still, challenges around infrastructure, regulation, and digital literacy could shape how quickly adoption spreads.
