Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested 18 individuals suspected of providing logistics support to Boko Haram terrorists.
Security authorities described the operation as a significant disruption to a supply network that aids insurgent operations in Nigeria’s North East. According to the Nigerian Army on its X account, the suspects were intercepted while moving through Gubio en route to the Gudumbali axis of Borno State, an area associated with insurgent activity.
The individuals were reportedly conveying supplies intended for terrorist elements when they were apprehended. Preliminary investigations revealed that many of the suspects were allegedly recruited into the logistics chain due to economic hardship, a trend in which insurgent groups exploit vulnerable civilians to sustain their operations.

The army stated that this pattern highlights the evolving tactics of terrorist networks, which increasingly rely on local support systems for mobility, intelligence, and supplies. While confirming the arrests, the military issued a warning to the public against any form of collaboration with insurgent groups.
Criminal consequences and community action
It stressed that providing logistics, intelligence, or any form of assistance to terrorists constitutes a serious criminal offence with far-reaching consequences for national security and public safety. The military also called for greater community involvement in counterterrorism efforts, noting that the success of continuing operations depends heavily on timely intelligence and cooperation from residents.
Citizens were urged to remain vigilant, resist inducements from criminal elements, and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies. The army emphasised the importance of addressing the socio-economic conditions that make individuals susceptible to recruitment. It called for sustained investment in community-based development initiatives, including job creation and improved access to basic services, to weaken terrorist influence.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and restoring stability across the North East, noting that lasting peace requires a combination of military action and inclusive development.
