Denmark has once again emerged as the world’s least corrupt country, topping the December 2024 Global Corruption Perception Rankings released by Trading Economics. The Scandinavian nation, renowned for its robust democratic institutions, transparent governance, and strong rule of law, has maintained its enviable position for consecutive years.
The Corruption Perceptions Index Rank (CPI Ranking) is published annually by Transparency International, a non-governmental organisation. A country or territory’s rank indicates its position relative to the other countries and territories in the index.
The list this year is dominated by Northern European countries. The dominance of Northern European countries in the top tier highlights the region’s emphasis on institutional transparency, low tolerance for bribery, and efficient judicial systems. Singapore and New Zealand remain the only non-European nations in the top five, standing out for their clean public sectors and effective anti-corruption agencies.
