Sustainable Manufacturing And Green Energy: Renewable Integration Key To Powering African Industry

Featuring a focussed conference session discussing “Sustainable Manufacturing and Green Energy”, the Manufacturing Indaba will shine a spotlight on one of the most urgent challenges facing the sector — energy reliability — and the transformative role of renewable energy integration in driving productivity and sustainability across Africa’s manufacturing landscape.

As manufacturers across the continent grapple with frequent load shedding, rising energy costs, and carbon reduction targets, the adoption of renewable energy solutions is no longer optional — it is essential for competitiveness, continuity, and compliance.

The move to sustainable manufacturing must go hand-in-hand with secure, affordable and clean power. This year’s conference and exhibition will explore how green energy solutions — from rooftop solar to industrial-scale hybrid systems — are enabling African manufacturers to de-risk operations, lower emissions, and build resilience.

Featured Topic:

“Renewable Energy Integration: Ensuring Stable Power for African Manufacturing”

Highlights will include:

  • Clean energy case studies from leading African manufacturers
  • On-site solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid mini-grid solutions tailored to industrial needs
  • Green financing models and incentives available for energy-efficient upgrades
  • Collaborative partnerships between industry, energy providers, and government

According to the World Bank, electricity outages cost African economies between 2% and 4% of GDP annually, with the manufacturing sector among the hardest hit. However, declining costs of renewable technologies, improved access to green finance, and a growing ecosystem of energy innovators are paving the way for manufacturers to become both energy producers and consumers.

The Manufacturing Indaba 2025, taking place from 15 – 16 July 2025 at the Sandton Convention Centre, is set to convene business leaders, government, financiers, and energy experts committed to shaping a sustainable, low-carbon industrial future for Africa.
