The wife of the Anambra State governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerian youth to embrace their unique gifts and talents to drive progress and provide solutions to challenges facing their communities.
Soludo, who is also the founder of the non-governmental organisation Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, made the call in a statement released on Tuesday to mark the World Creativity and Innovation Day, celebrated globally on April 21.
She said innovation goes beyond technology, describing it as finding new ways to solve problems, uplift others, and create opportunities where none previously existed.
“Today, we celebrate the power of ideas, the courage to think differently, and the beauty of innovation that drives progress across our communities.
“On this World Innovation and Creativity Day, I encourage every young mind, every dreamer, and every changemaker to embrace their unique gifts. Innovation is not only about technology; it is about finding new ways to solve problems, uplift others, and create opportunities where none existed before,” she said.
The first lady expressed pride in the creativity and resilience of Anambra people across different fields, from entrepreneurship and artisanship to education and the professions, saying such qualities continue to shape a brighter and more inclusive future for the state.
She called on youth to keep nurturing curiosity and supporting bold ideas.
“Let us continue to nurture curiosity, support bold ideas, and invest in the talents of our people. Because within each of us lies the potential to transform our world,” she said.
World Creativity and Innovation Day is a United Nations observance celebrated annually on April 21 to raise awareness of the importance of creativity and innovation in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the global goals.
The day encourages creative and multidisciplinary thinking at both individual and group levels.
