Rivers Solad asks newly appointed LGA administrators to work out measures with security agencies to protect the communities


The Sole Administrator of Rivers State seems set to begin project execution in the communities. To open the floodgate, he would want maximum peace to create the right environment.

The create peace, there must be measures to curb incessant crisis in the communities.

At a peace strategy forum in Emohua LGA, Ibok-Ete Ikwe Abas, a retired vice admiral, unveiled his next move and charged the people to work with security agencies to ensure lasting peace.

He stated this during an interactive session which held at the Ngozi Kekwaru Pavilion in Rumuakunde, the council headquarters recently.

Issues for which the newly appointed Emohua LGA administrator set up the forum include security, youth restiveness, dilapidated and abandoned projects littered across the area, unemployment, electricity, good roads, chieftaincy tussles, and improved agricultural practices.

The Sole Administrator was represented by Olugbenga Adepoju, the Rivers State Commissioner for Police, who went with a delegation of Service Chiefs across the Military.

In his speech for the Solad, Adepoju said the interactive session was imperative for the Administrator to be acquainted with the challenges facing the people and when identified, to proffer solutions to them.

He said the Administrator is keen on initiating developmental projects that would impact on the lives of the populace.

The retired vice admiral also charged the LGA bosses to synergize with security outfits in their domains tasking them to jealously guard all critical infrastructural facilities relevant to the Federal Government and those that serve them as a people.

“We want unity, we want everyone to work together so the Sole Administrator can have enough time to develop what he can as he is interested in your welfare and can do what he feels you need most,” he stated.

In his remarks, the Sole Administrator of Emohua Local Government Area, Ajinwo, disclosed that the essence of the session was to discuss the affairs of the Local Government Area ranging from security of lives and properties, peaceful coexistence, environmental sanitation, conflict resolution and access to healthcare amongst others.

He enjoined everyone to align with the mandate of promoting peace across all frontiers as that is the panacea to attract more development describing Emohua as one of the safest and most peaceful local council areas in the State.

Ajinwo lauded the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the area for a job well done and thanked the Service Chiefs for their visit.

Issues highlighted by various speakers facing the Emohua people include security, youth restiveness, dilapidated and abandoned projects littered across the area, unemployment, electricity, good roads, chieftaincy tussles, and improved agricultural practices, etc.

According to Omereju Ihiaru, a chief information officer, participants were drawn from the traditional institutions, clergy, youth groups, women and men organisations, and the physically challenged.

The event climaxed with an inspection tour of some projects in Ogbakiri and Ibaa Communities.
