Residents of Maiduguri fled their homes following two loud explosions, and sustained gunfire as Boko Haram terrorists attacked areas around Dala, Bulamari, and Ajilari-Cross in Konduga local government area of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in the early hours of Monday.
According to sources, the attack began from Ajilari-Cross general areas when the terrorists opened fire around 12:35 a.m., prompting a swift response from the joint security agencies, including the military, Nigeria police force and others.
The sounds of gun battle threw the residents into panic and confusion after residents across the city.
Many residents of Dala, Bulamari, and Ajilari Cross reportedly fled their homes in search of safety as the situation escalated.

A source near the Dala community told our Correspondent that military personnel had told hundreds of people in the area to flee their homes.
“As I am talking to you, people have fled from their homes for their safety, but calm has been restored in Maiduguri after Nigerian Army and Air Force troops successfully repelled a terrorist attack on the outskirts of the city early Monday morning,” a source said.
While confirming the incident, Nahum Daso, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, said that police operatives have moved to the scene.
“Yes, there is a suspected terrorist attack at Ajilari Cross. I am currently on my way to the scene. I will give you details later,” he said.
Similarly, Nigerian troops in the early hours on Monday morning repelled an attempt by the terrorist group in the Damboa Local Government Area of the state.

The attacks were carried out simultaneously by the deadly group both on the outskirts of Maiduguri city and Damboa Town in the southern part of the state.
