Police arrest 5 kidnappers over homicide of Rivers stadium CSO, son

The Rivers Order Police Command has arrested 5 suspected kidnappers accused of terrorising Port Harcourt, the situation capital, and its environs.

The suspects also are related to the killing of the Well-known Safety Officer of Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Richard Timothy, and his 23-year-old son, Silas, at their place of dwelling in February.

Spokesperson for the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a commentary on Tuesday, noting that the arrests adopted intelligence-led operations through the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

“Following a layout of kidnapping incidents inside the Rukpokwu, Igwuruta, Omagwa, and Etche fields, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, performing on actionable knowledge, performed a coordinated operation on March 8, 2025, taking off at roughly 9:30 am.

“The operation lasted for eight hours and led to the arrest of five suspects,” the commentary learn.

The arrested suspects have been recognized as Mohammadu Bello, 30, from Padiki LGA, Kwara Order; Suleman Umar, 26, from Hadeja LGA, Jigawa Order; Bello Amadu, 35, from Keffi-Hausa LGA, Jigawa Order; Adamu Musa, 30, from Hadeja LGA, Jigawa Order; and Abubakar Mohammed, 22, from Azare LGA, Bauchi Order.

Iringe-Koko stated the suspects confessed to a couple of kidnapping operations, together with the homicide of the stadium CSO and his son.

Pieces recovered from the group come with two AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, 66 rounds of ammunition, 3 locally-made pistols, 10 are living cartridges, a number of cell phones, and SIM playing cards.

“The suspects are currently in custody and cooperating with investigators. Efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate,” the police spokesperson added.

The command confident citizens of its constancy to making sure safety and promised to lend additional updates as investigations walk.
