Pezeshkian, two officials to lead transition after Khamenei’s death — Iran TV

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and two other senior officials will lead the country during a transitional period following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, state television reported on Sunday.

According to the broadcast, judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei and another senior official from the nation’s legal council will join the transitional leadership. The report cited Mohammad Mokhber, one of Khamenei’s advisers, as the source of the information.

Meanwhile, thousands of mourners gathered in central Tehran following the announcement of the supreme leader’s death, according to AFP journalists.

The mourners, many dressed in black and some visibly emotional, assembled at Enghelab Square, chanting slogans and waving Iranian flags while holding portraits of Khamenei.
