As the 2027 general elections draw closer, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its readiness to return to power, citing growing public discontent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and renewed calls for national rescue.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday in Abuja, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, said the opposition party remains the only viable political force with the structure, experience, and grassroots presence to steer Nigeria back on track.
“Privately, people call me, urging us to unite and rescue the country,” Ologunagba revealed, highlighting rising public interest in the party’s affairs.
As PDP declared readiness for 2027, He said the party has begun internal reforms and strategic planning to reposition itself for the 2027 polls, noting that the party’s legacy of impactful governance still resonates with Nigerians across all regions.
“We are organic and nationally rooted. There is no community in Nigeria without a PDP presence,” he said. “During our time in government, we positively impacted lives, reaching even the remotest parts of the country.”

Ologunagba also took a swipe at the ruling APC, describing it as a failed project that no patriotic Nigerian would support in future elections.
“APC is a bad market. No matter who they present in 2027, Nigerians are wiser now. They know better,” he stated.
Addressing concerns over recent defections, the PDP spokesman dismissed any notion of internal weakness, stressing that the party remains united and intact.
“While leaders are important, followers define a party. Our grassroots supporters are not leaving,” he asserted.
Ologunagba further confirmed that preparations are ongoing for the PDP’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled to hold from July 23 to 25. He said invitation letters have been sent to all members, and the meeting will focus on updates from the zoning and convention committees as well as ratification of congresses held across the country.
The PDP spokesman expressed optimism that Nigerians, having experienced the current administration, are now eager for change.
“Nigerians are yearning for a party that can rebuild the nation, and they know the PDP is ready,” he concluded.
