The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Monday, forecasted a combination of sunshine and cloudiness across the country from Tuesday to Thursday, with periods of sunny intervals and isolated thunderstorms expected in different regions.
For Tuesday, NiMet predicts sunny weather with occasional cloud cover in the northern region, with isolated thunderstorms likely in parts of Adamawa, Kaduna, and Taraba States later in the day.
The North Central region is expected to experience sunny skies with cloud patches, along with slim chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi States during the morning.
However, in the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are expected over parts of FCT, Benue, Niger, Plateau, and Kwara States.
In the South, morning thunderstorms are possible over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States, followed by isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening over parts of Imo, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Abia, Anambra, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States.

On Wednesday, sunny weather with occasional clouds is expected in the northern region, with isolated thunderstorms or light rain likely later in the day in Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Kaduna States.
The North Central region will see sunny skies with cloud cover in the morning, while isolated thunderstorms are predicted in the afternoon and evening over parts of the FCT, Benue, Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Plateau States.
In the South, cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine are expected, along with morning thunderstorms in parts of Ogun, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa states. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Anambra, Enugu, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta States.
Thursday’s forecast predicts sunny skies with few clouds in the northern region during the morning, with isolated thunderstorms likely in Taraba later in the day.
The North Central region will have sunny weather with cloud cover in the morning, while isolated thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon over Benue, Kwara, and Kogi States.
In the South, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are forecast, with isolated thunderstorms in parts of Cross River, Rivers, Lagos, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States in the morning. Thunderstorms are expected later in the day in parts of Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Edo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Rivers States.
NiMet has advised the public to stay hydrated, avoid excessive sun exposure, and seek cooler environments, as temperatures remain high, increasing the risk of heat stress.
Additionally, the public is urged to get vaccinated against meningitis, practice good hygiene, and avoid close contact with infected individuals. People are also advised to avoid peak sun hours (from noon to 3 pm) and take precautions in areas with thunderstorms, as strong winds may precede the rain.
Airline operators are advised to obtain specific weather reports from NiMet for safe flight planning. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through NiMet’s weather updates.
