Nigeria’s Super Falcons pulled off a thrilling comeback to defeat hosts Morocco 3–2 and clinch a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title on Saturday. At halftime, the Nigerian team trailed by two goals to nil, with Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses all but set to win their first WAFCON title. However, striker Esther Okoronkwo had other plans. Halfway through the second half, she reignited Nigeria’s revival with a penalty before setting up two late goals, first for Folashade Ijamilusi and then for Jennifer Echegini, to seal the win. Okoronkwo’s performance was enough to help Nigeria claim its 10th title, dubbed Mission X, and reclaim the crown that was last won in 2018. Meanwhile, the Atlas Lionesses have now finished as runners-up in back-to-back finals.
