MWC Kigali 2026 Sets The Stage For Africa’s Next Digital Leap | Africa News

Africa’s digital future will once again take centre stage as MWC Kigali 2026 returns with an expanded agenda, new industry summits, and the debut of a continent-focused awards platform recognising real impact.

Set for 16–18 June at the Kigali Convention Centre, the gathering—delivered in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation Rwanda—is fast cementing its role as Africa’s premier convening of policymakers, operators, investors and innovators shaping the continent’s digital economy.

This year’s programme reflects a maturing ecosystem and sharper focus on real-world challenges. New summits include a Scams Summit tackling the rise of AI-enabled fraud, an AgriTech Summit (in partnership with Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa) exploring technology’s role in agricultural transformation, and a Health Summit focused on expanding access through digital care. The GSMA Technology Summit will convene operators around 5G, security and roaming, while returning pillars—such as the Education Summit, 5G Summit and the Ministerial Programme—underscore continuity in policy and skills development.

A standout addition is the launch of the first-ever GLOMOs Africa, spotlighting organisations delivering measurable impact. The inaugural awards will focus on two critical areas: innovation driving Africa’s real economy and solutions closing the mobile internet usage gap—both central to inclusive digital growth.

Across the agenda, four themes define the 2026 conversation. “ConnectAI” will examine how artificial intelligence and next-generation networks can accelerate inclusive growth. Fintech & Commerce expands to reflect the sector’s role in economic resilience, while “Digital Africa” highlights mobile-led transformation across industries. “Intelligent Infrastructure” rounds out the programme, exploring how 5G and AI-driven networks are unlocking new value in sectors from mining to smart cities.

Backed by major industry players including MTN, Airtel and Ericsson, MWC Kigali continues to position itself not just as an event, but as a platform where Africa’s digital ambitions translate into partnerships, policy direction and investment momentum.

Registration is now open, with stakeholders across the ecosystem invited to take part in shaping the continent’s next phase of digital growth.
