MTN Group has appointed Shoyinka Shodunke as its new executive, IT Core Design and Delivery, which is a key technology leadership role that takes effect on March 1, 2026.
He has held numerous senior strategic roles, including Director of Technology at Vodafone Ghana and Chief Technology and Information officer at MTN Cameroon, as well as Chief Information Officer (CIO) roles in MTN Zambia and the MTN Shared Services Hub in Southeast Africa.
Shodunke brings nearly 30 years of experience in information technology, digital transformation and innovation across Africa’s telecommunications sector.
He currently serves concurrently as chief information officer for both MTN Nigeria and MTN South Africa, where he has led large-scale digital projects affecting more than 80 million subscribers, overseeing IT teams of more than 350 professionals.
In his new role, Shodunke will lead the development and implementation of standardised, AI-enhanced IT architectures across MTN’s operations.

His responsibilities include integrating AI-driven automation, predictive analytics and digital transformation initiatives to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, service agility and innovation cycles across the group’s footprint.
Recognised for a leadership style rooted in adaptive intelligence, resilient system design and collaborative value creation, Shodunke has been at the forefront of applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance customer experiences, strengthen system resilience and drive innovation at scale.
His achievements include being named MTN Group CIO of the Year in 2025 and receiving accolades such as Tech Champion in Telecoms and CIO of the Year at the CIO and C-Suite Awards Africa.

Shodunke’s academic record include advanced management programme at Harvard Business School, an MBA from the University of Northampton, Postgraduate Diploma in Global Management from the University of Salford, Manchester.
He has a Bachelor of Technology in Mathematics and Statistics from the Federal University of Technology, Nigeria.
