LAGOS — The Lagos State Government has announced plans to close the main carriageway between Super Bus-Stop and Ilepo Bus-Stop (Inbound Lagos) along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway for a 12-week rehabilitation project.
The works are scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 7, and continue until Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the closure is to enable the Federal Ministry of Works to execute the reconstruction smoothly. During the period, the Lagos-bound lane from Super Bus-Stop to Ilepo Bus-Stop will be completely closed to traffic.
Travel Advisory
Motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:
Option 1: From Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate to Lagos/Oshodi, divert to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor via Super Bus-Stop and exit at Pleasure Bus-Stop (Ilepo) to continue their journey.
Option 2: Use Ekoro Road to Old Otta Road through Alira Street, then link Abeokuta Street to connect to Pleasure Bus-Stop.
Option 3: Go through Abule Egba Underbridge to connect Agege and continue to the desired destinations.
For motorists traveling toward Abeokuta (Abeokuta-bound lane), traffic will continue as normal. Emergency tow vehicles will be stationed within the BRT corridor to manage breakdowns and facilitate quick recovery.
Osiyemi urged drivers to exercise patience, follow traffic signage, and cooperate with traffic management officials to ensure a safe and efficient execution of the rehabilitation works.
“The cooperation of motorists will help achieve a better motoring experience upon completion of the project,” he added.
