…As Commissioner Canvasses Support for Taraba Governor

JALINGO – Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has used the occasion of June 12 Democracy Day to call for visionary leadership focused on long-term development rather than short-term popularity.
In a reflective statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, Governor Kefas congratulated Nigerians for their resilience in upholding democratic values.
He emphasized that his administration is focused on laying a solid foundation through planning and sustainable reforms, rather than rushing to implement projects for the sake of public approval.
“We are not in a hurry. I talk less and plan more. If after four years of our first tenure we haven’t delivered, then we can be assessed better,” he said.
Governor Kefas stressed the importance of quality infrastructure such as roads and bridges, noting that such projects must be carefully conceptualized to ensure durability and long-term value — not just commissioned for political applause.
He explained that his administration is currently developing a comprehensive master plan for the sustainable development of Taraba’s infrastructure and economic resources.
He also noted that improving security, especially in Jalingo and other parts of the state, is a key prerequisite for enabling economic growth and ensuring democratic freedom.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Rural and Urban Development, Peter Julius, urged citizens to support the governor’s vision for the state.
“Governor Kefas is doing his best to serve the people of Taraba. He is building a strong foundation. It may not be visible to everyone now, but time will show that Taraba is moving forward,” Julius said.
He called for patience and unity among residents, emphasizing that real transformation requires time, consistency, and a collective commitment to progress.
“Our people should know that change doesn’t happen overnight. It requires patience, consistency, and a shared commitment to progress,” he added.
