The Jos Electricity Distribution Company has attributed the recent drop in electricity supply across Plateau, Bauchi, Benue and Gombe states to reduced allocation from the national grid.
The company’s spokesperson, Saratu Dauda, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Jos on Wednesday.
She said the development was beyond the company’s control, noting that its capacity to supply electricity depends on the volume received from the grid.
“The reduction in power supply is a result of decreased allocation from the national grid. As a distribution company, our capacity to supply electricity depends on what is made available to us.

Dauda appealed to customers for understanding, assuring that the company was engaging relevant stakeholders to improve the situation.

She added that JED remains committed to improved service delivery and urged residents in the affected states to remain patient as efforts continue to stabilise supply.
“We are working to improve the situation and appreciate our customers’ patience,” Dauda said.
The development comes amid recurring instability in Nigeria’s power sector, with electricity distribution companies frequently affected by fluctuations in supply from the national grid.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, apologised to Nigerians over the recent decline in electricity supply, attributing it to reduced generation and challenges in the power sector.
