Human resource and business leaders have urged Nigerian organisations to prioritise employee wellbeing, strengthen workplace culture, and adopt technology that supports productivity and staff development.
Speaking at the 2025 HR Conference and Excellence Awards in Lagos, Omotola Dayo-Adedapo, convener of HRTalenthub.ng, said workplaces must urgently address toxic leadership, burnout and declining mental health amid harsh economic conditions.
She said improving employee experience requires healthier cultures, recognition of staff contributions, and stronger alignment between workers and organisational goals.
Dayo-Adedapo also called for government policies that support enterprise growth and enable businesses to invest more in talent development.

Tayo Arulogun, a professor and vice-chancellor of Miva Open University, described Nigeria’s situation as a “talent paradox,” noting that despite producing over 500,000 graduates yearly, employers still struggle to find skilled workers.
He said organisations must cultivate talent internally, integrate continuous learning into daily work, and build cultures that reward innovation.
Lare Ayoola, group CEO of Tranter IT Infrastructure Services, stressed that technology investments must be purpose-driven and enhance staff wellbeing. He warned that companies failing to build AI proficiency across their workforce risk losing competitiveness.
The event brought together HR executives and business leaders and also honoured individuals and organisations demonstrating excellence in human capital development.
