Ex-PDP scribe leads 52-man Adeleke re-election campaign



The 52-member committee saddled with the responsibility of managing the reelection campaign of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, will be chaired by the ex-national secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof Wale Oladipo.

According to a statement obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday, Oladipo, a professor of Nuclear Chemistry, who currently chairs the governing council of the Osun State University, will work with the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Lere Oyewumi, who has been appointed as the Director General of the campaign committee.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr Kolapo Alimi, will serve as Deputy Director General, with the convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates in Nigeria, Pelumi Olajengbesi, serving as the spokesperson and Bola Ajao, as the secretary.

“It will be chaired by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council at Osun State University, Prof Wale Ladipo, while the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi, has been appointed Director General.

“Further strengthening the campaign structure, the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Bamidele Salam, who also chairs the House Committee on Public Accounts, will head the Media and Publicity Committee, while former secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, will oversee Inter-Party Relations along side other 29 campaign council standing committees.

“At the federal constituencies level, the Imole Federal Constituency Campaign Committee will be constituted in each of the nine federal constituencies.

“Membership will include working committee members, state party officers, members of the House of Assembly, commissioners, special advisers, council chairmen, and party chairmen from each constituency,” the statement read.

The statement further noted that the Imole Local Government Campaign Committee will operate across all 30 local government areas and the area office, bringing together state lawmakers, local government chairmen, party leaders, senior special assistants, special assistants, councillors, and local education authority representatives.

On the specific duties of the committee, the statement said its primary mandate “is to serve as the highest decision-making body of the campaign, overseeing the planning, execution, and evaluation of all campaign programmes and messaging strategies. It is also tasked with ensuring cohesion and discipline across the campaign structure.

“In addition, the body will coordinate and supervise campaign operations at all levels, including federal constituencies, local governments, wards, diaspora networks, and polling units, to ensure a unified and integrated approach.”
