A former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Gbenga Omole, has called on members of the Oka community, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, to support the development agenda of the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The lawmaker, who represented Akoko South West Constituency 1 from 2019 to 2023, also donated N20m to empower some interest groups of women and youths of the community.
Speaking at the unveiling of the newly renovated Oka Community town hall, where he made the donation, on Thursday, Omole said the gesture was part of his efforts to contribute his quota to the development of the town and to alleviate the economic hardship of his people.
The immediate-past special adviser to Aiyedatiwa on transport also used the occasion to declare his intention to recontest for the House of Assembly election in Akoko South-West Constituency 1, in 2027, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
He promised that if elected, women’s and youths’ development as well as infrastructural development would top his priority.
“I am also going to do more for the youth. I will prioritise infrastructure development and continue to liaise with community leaders to address pressing needs,” he said.
He further noted that improved release of constituency funds by the current administration would enhance lawmakers’ performance at the grassroots.
“The governor has been releasing constituency funds for lawmakers, and this will enable us to perform better in our communities,” he stated
The Ondo State APC Chairman, Mr Kolawole Babatunde, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to mobilising support for all its candidates.
“From the President downward, all APC candidates will be voted for. The party will work massively for all its candidates, leaving no one behind,” he said.
