EPL: Saka signs five-year contract until 2031 – BBC

England and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal, keeping him at the Emirates until 2031.

As reported by BBC Sport on Tuesday, the deal makes him the club’s highest-paid player with wages exceeding £300,000 per week.

The 24-year-old’s previous deal, signed in 2023, was due to run until 2027, but the new agreement ensures Saka will spend his peak years at the Gunners.

Talks over the contract had been ongoing for nearly a year, with Saka verbally committing to the club in January.

Saka’s extension is a major boost for manager Mikel Arteta, as Arsenal compete on four fronts in search of their first major trophy since 2020.

The Gunners currently lead the Premier League by four points and will face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final in March. They have also reached the knockout stages of the Champions League and the fifth round of the FA Cup.

This season, Saka has scored seven goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, remaining a central figure in Arsenal’s title push. His new deal follows a summer of long-term renewals for the club, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly all committing their futures to the Gunners.

Arsenal’s strategy of tying down key players reflects their ambition to maintain a core squad capable of competing domestically and in Europe over the coming years.
