Ekiti South APC backs Adaramodu for 2027 Senate race

The Ekiti South chapter of the All Progressives Congress has adopted the Senate spokesman, Adeyemi Adaramodu, as its consensus candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.

The decision was contained in a letter and minutes of a stakeholders’ meeting made available to journalists in Abuja on Saturday.

Adaramodu, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, currently represents Ekiti South in the Nigerian Senate.

The endorsement letter was addressed to the Ekiti State APC chairman and members of the State Executive Council.

The correspondence was jointly signed by the Senatorial District Chairman, Akindele Olusola, and other party executives including Idowu Dare, Gabriel Omoniyi, Oyebode Kayode, Olajide Falae, Akinseye Adebayo, and Chief Clement Ojo.

The stakeholders said the decision followed “wide consultations” with party leaders and members across wards and local government areas in the district.

They added that the move was in line with the party’s directive encouraging consensus arrangements where possible.

The letter partly read, “Following due consultations with stakeholders, leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress in Wards, Local Governments and District and in line with directive of the party to adopt consensus where possible, we hereby avail and affirm that Senator Adeyemi Rapheal Adaramodu has emerged as the consensus candidate of our party for the position of Senator in the forth coming senatorial election (2027).

“This decision was reached on Monday, 13th of April 2026, at a meeting of stakeholders held at Senatorial office, Moshood Road, opposite His Excellency Sir. Abiodun Aluko House with overwhelming support and without dissent.

“The choice of Senator Adeyemi Rapheal Adaramodu reflects the will of the party members and the need for unity, stability and victory for APC in our district.

“We therefore present him to the state party working committee as our duly affirmed consensus candidate and request that all necessary steps be taken to formalise his candidacy.”

Adaramodu served in the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.

He was elected to the Senate in February 2023 after defeating the incumbent, Biodun Olujimi.
