Premier League champions Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for the signing of centre-back Marc Guehi in a deal worth £35 million.
The 25-year-old England international is set to complete his medical in London on Monday before signing a long-term contract at Anfield. Liverpool’s offer, which includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause, was accepted after both clubs reached a compromise on the final fee.
Guehi captained Palace in what is expected to be his farewell appearance on Monday night, helping the Eagles to a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa and scoring a stunning second goal in his 162nd appearance for the club.
Speaking after the match, the defender remained tight-lipped about his future, saying only.
“All I know is when you score goals like that, it is always down to team performance. People will try to single out the goal, but that was a clear team performance tonight.”
Over the past two seasons, Guehi has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dependable defenders, admired for his composure, athleticism, and leadership.
Securing his services ahead of rival suitors is seen as a major coup for Liverpool’s recruitment team as they strengthen their backline ahead of their title defence.
