Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo visits Governor Sanwo-Olu, champions youth football in Lagos
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, fresh off his FIFA Club World Cup success with the Blues, paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday as part of his homecoming tour to Nigeria.
Adarabioyo, who was born in Manchester to Nigerian parents, is in Lagos ahead of the Tosin Adarabioyo Youth Cup, a grassroots football tournament taking place on Wednesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.

During the visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu shared photos on Facebook and praised the Premier League star for staying connected to his roots.
“Tosin Adarabioyo, who plays for Chelsea, stopped by to visit while he’s in Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu wrote.
“It’s always inspiring to meet young Nigerians making their mark internationally, who remain grounded and stay connected to home.”
The youth tournament, organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Football Association, is expected to attract aspiring footballers, fans, and stakeholders from across the state.
“This will be fun!!! Tosin will be LIVE at the stadium,” organisers posted ahead of the event.
Adarabioyo, who has represented England at the youth level, remains eligible to play for Nigeria.
The 27-year-old centre-back has been closely monitored by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, especially as Nigeria prepares for the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Recently, Adarabioyo clarified long-standing rumours surrounding his international future, insisting he has never turned down Nigeria.
“Yeah, so both of those pieces of news are pretty false,” he told Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba.
