Chelsea one point from Champions League spot despite loss

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior admitted his team had a frustrating evening after failing to capitalize on chances, but emphasized that the Blues remain just one point shy of a Champions League spot.

Speaking after his side suffered a 3-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday, Rosenior praised the travelling supporters for their loyalty.

“Of course. They pay their money, they love this club, and they have come a long way.
“It’s a disappointing time for the club at the moment, it hurts… but we’re one point away from Champions League spot,” he said.

Rosenior acknowledged Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal despite creating opportunities.

“If you keep arriving and creating, you will take them. It’s not for a lack of shots or final third entries. “We need to be more clinical,” he explained.

Reflecting on the performance, he admitted the team fell short of its tactical objectives.

“It’s been the most disappointing evening so far. In terms of the things we spoke about — not gifting goals away, getting control of the game — it wasn’t there,” he said.

Despite the setback, Rosenior remained focused on the bigger picture, pointing to Chelsea’s proximity to a Champions League qualification spot as motivation to improve in upcoming matches.

The defeat to Everton marks Chelsea’s fourth consecutive loss, a streak the club has not experienced since 1993.
