English Championship side Birmingham City have confirmed the signing of Nigerian international Bright Osayi-Samuel on a three-year contract, following the expiration of his deal with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
The 27-year-old defender, who can play as a full-back, wing-back, or winger, becomes the Blues’ fourth signing this week, joining Demarai Gray, Tommy Doyle, and James Beadle as part of a major squad rebuild ahead of their return to the Championship after winning the League One title last season.
Osayi-Samuel made 178 appearances over four and a half years with Fenerbahçe. He played a key role in their domestic and European campaigns and featured prominently during their Turkish Super Lig title-winning season under Jose Mourinho.
“Coming to Birmingham City now is another step for me, an opportunity to show everyone where I’ve been for the last four years,” Osayi-Samuel told the club’s official website.
“I want to play in the Premier League and show everyone what I can do.”
Born in Nigeria but raised in England, Osayi-Samuel began his professional career with Blackpool, making his senior debut at just 17.
He helped the Tangerines secure promotion from League Two via the play-offs in 2017 before moving to Queens Park Rangers, where he amassed over 100 Championship appearances between 2017 and 2021.
