Brentford force Arsenal to 1-1 draw, as Gunners drop points again

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have again failed to take their early Premier League advantage against runaway league leader Liverpool at the Emirates on Saturday.

Tierney effort was ruled out before Thomas Partey opens scoring to give the Gunners the lead.

However, Yoane Wissa’s goal cancelled out Partey’s opener, as Arteta’s much-changed side came up short on the night.

The draw handed league leader Liverpool one step closer to the title as Arsenal drop points again.

However, there were no groans from the Emirates at full-time as all focus now shift to their mid-week Champions League clash away to Real Madrid.

“No boos from the Emirates. The Arsenal players are clapped off and sung about. After the night they had on Tuesday, they could still do no wrong I guess,” Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz capture at atmosphere at full-time.

According to Sam, the priority for the Gunners was Real Madrid and for the second week in a row, Arsenal are held to a 1-1 draw.

“All about the Champions League now for Arsenal. If they progress against Real on Tuesday, this will be forgotten.”

Jamie Redknapp, aaid it was another good away day for Brentford, who forced Arsenal to a draw at the Emirates.

“It was a really good day for Thomas Frank. Their away form has been fabulous of late, they’re very difficult to beat, well organised, togetherness… it tells you everything about that club,” Redknapp said.

Steve Sidwell, on his part said the 1-1 draw was a familiar performance from Arsenal

“It feels acceptable because they’ve got the game in midweek. If that wasn’t there, it would be a different atmosphere in the stadium.

“It’s the story of Arsenal – they’ve lacked that goal scorer they’ve needed all season and others haven’t stepped up to the plate,” Sidwell said.

According to him, the Gunners dominated the game but could not get the ball over Brentford’s line.
