Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa has defended Kylian Mbappé’s right to spend his free time as he sees fit while recovering from injury, stressing that the club retains full control over the player’s rehabilitation.
Arbeloa made it clear that all injured players are closely monitored by the medical staff, who carefully plan each stage of recovery.
Despite that structured approach, he emphasised that players are not restricted in their personal time.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Monday, Arbeloa was quoted as saying, “All the injured players are monitored, and the medical staff plans everything. In his free time, any player can do what he wants. I don’t get involved.”
Mbappé has recently drawn attention after being seen on holiday during his recovery period. Still, Arbeloa’s comments suggest there are no concerns within the club about his professionalism or commitment to regaining full fitness.
The coach also provided an update on Mbappé’s availability for the upcoming El Clásico, indicating that a clearer picture will emerge soon. “We will have an answer this week,” he said, leaving open the possibility of the French forward returning in time for the high-profile clash.
In addition, Arbeloa reserved praise for Vinícius Júnior, highlighting his work ethic and influence on the team. “I’m always grateful to Vini for the effort he puts in. I’m proud to have him as a player,” he said. “He was very dangerous, smart, a leader.”
As anticipation builds ahead of El Clásico, Mbappé’s fitness remains a key storyline, with the club expected to make a final decision based on medical assessments in the coming days.
