The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, yesterday visited Borno State following Monday’s bomb explosion that left several people injured.
He assured residents of strengthened security measures.
IGP Disu met with victims receiving treatment and expressed sympathy over the incident.

He was received by the Deputy Governor, Usman Umar Kadafur, who congratulated the IGP on his appointment and commended his swift response.
“For an incident that happened last night and for you to be on ground this morning is a sign of seriousness,” Kadafur said, describing the visit as a morale booster for residents.
He added that the IGP’s presence underscored the Federal Government’s concern for the safety of Borno residents, reaffirming the state’s commitment to continued collaboration with security agencies.
The IGP visited the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where victims are being treated, and inspected the Monday Market, the scene of the blast, to assess the damage.

He also held strategic meetings with senior officers, including the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mobile Force, on strengthening security operations in the state.
Addressing officers and men of the Borno State Command, Disu urged them to heighten vigilance, improve intelligence gathering and remain proactive.
He assured residents of the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while calling on the public to remain security conscious and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

The IGP also pledged support for officers through the provision of necessary equipment and logistics to boost operational efficiency.
The visit comes amid renewed cefforts to reinforce security across the North-East.
