Oyo State Police Command has arrested three armed robbery suspects, recovering stolen goods worth millions of naira.

The suspects, Abiodun Adeyemi Michael, Olaoluwa Pamole, and Ahmed Ismail, were apprehended following a tip-off and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations in Ibadan.

The recovered items include a Magnum pump-action gun, several mobile phones, a Samsung Galaxy S10, a Wi-Fi device, and N130,000 cash.

The suspects confessed to participating in robbery operations in Ibadan, targeting unsuspecting members of the public at gunpoint.

The Command spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, stated in a release that the arrest is a major operational success demonstrating the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and proactive stop-and-search operations in safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He said the lead suspect, Michael, was intercepted at General Gas Area, Akobo, Ibadan, while riding a motorcycle. He attempted to flee upon sighting the operatives but was swiftly pursued and apprehended.

During interrogation, he added, the suspect reportedly confessed to participating in a robbery operation alongside three accomplices—Olaoluwa Pamole, Ahmed Ismail, and Lamidi—during which unsuspecting members of the public were robbed at gunpoint around the Toll Gate and Egbeda areas of Ibadan.

He said, acting on information, a team of police operatives, in collaboration with men of the Command Monitoring Unit and led by the Divisional Police Officer, Akobo Division, proceeded to the suspects’ meeting point at Access Hotel, Sawmill, Onipepeye Area, Iwo Road, Ibadan.

He noted that Olaoluwa Pamole and Ahmed Ismail were arrested at the scene, while the third suspect, Lamidi, is currently at large. The suspects further confessed to being involved in snatching an ash-colored Honda car in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, directed that the case be transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for discreet investigation and prosecution.
