The Kaduna State Government has resolved its dispute with the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kaduna State Chapter, paving the way for the immediate suspension of the union’s one-week strike and full resumption of judicial activities across the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, said a high-level government delegation met with the State Executive Committee of JUSUN at the Attorney-General’s Chamber on February 23, 2026, to address the issues in contention.
The union’s demands included the implementation of financial autonomy for the state judiciary, consequential salary adjustments arising from the new minimum wage, payment of outstanding salary arrears for April and May 2021, as well as settlement of leave grant arrears.
According to the commissioner, the meeting ended on a positive note, with all the issues amicably resolved in line with the directive of Governor Uba Sani.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. James Kanyip, described the engagement as fruitful, stating that the outcome underscores Governor Sani’s commitment to industrial harmony and improved productivity in the public service.
He noted that the resolution would strengthen collaboration between the executive and the judiciary, while ensuring uninterrupted justice delivery across the state.
The state government commended the leadership of JUSUN for its maturity and cooperation during negotiations and urged judiciary workers to resume duties immediately in the interest of the public and the administration of justice in Kaduna State.
