Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Opens Fellowship Applications For SA’s Next Generation Of Entrepreneurs


The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is inviting high-performing Grade 12 learners with a passion  for entrepreneurship to apply for its University Fellowship Programme before the 30 April 2026 closing date.  

The Fellowship offers far more than financial support for university studies. It’s the beginning of a transformative entrepreneurial journey – one that builds a strong entrepreneurial mindset development, nurtures personal growth and equips young people with the tools to create meaningful impact in their communities.  

Successful candidates gain access to needs-based university funding, entrepreneurial mindset development and the support of personal industry mentors. Through this combinations of resources, networks and development opportunities, Candidate Allan Gray Fellows are empowered to generate ideas, launch ventures and grow purpose-driven businesses that make a tangible impact.  

The Foundation is seeking young achievers from the matric class of 2026 who are determined to shape their future and contribute to South Africa’s growth. Learners with curiosity, leadership qualities and a desire to make a difference are encouraged to apply.  

Fellowship Application Requirements: 

o   The applicant must be a South African citizen.  

o   The applicant must be under the age of 21 in the year of application. 

o   A minimum of 60% in pure Mathematics or a minimum of 80% in Mathematical Literacy for final Grade 11 results.  

o   A minimum average of 70% for final Grade 11 results (excluding Life Orientation) 

o   An intention to study towards a Commerce, Science, Engineering, Law, Humanities, Arts & Health Sciences (excluding Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry) at WITS, UJ, UCT, NMU, RU, UWC, SU, UP, UFS, UKZN or TSiBA 

o   Applicants with a combined annual household income of R1 million  and below will receive full funding, whereas applicants with a combined household income of above R1 million will receive needs-based funding. 

Applications close on 30 April 2026, 17:00 SAST. As the process is rigorous, applicants are encouraged to apply early, as late submissions will not be accepted.
