Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has officially registered as a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The exercise was carried out during the ongoing e-registration process in his hometown, Irrua, Edo State, where he subsequently received his registration card as the first member of the party in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, the governor expressed satisfaction with the exercise and called on APC members and intending members to freely join the party in its ongoing membership drive ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking to journalists after receiving his registration card, Okpebholo thanked the e-registration team and appealed to members to come out in their numbers and register to become full members of the party in the state.
He said, “I want to appreciate the APC e-registration team for the exercise. I am happy and delighted with this e-registration exercise, which is easy and simple.
“It is easy for members who have all the required criteria to register. These criteria include your NIN, voter’s card, among others. I urge every Edo citizen and those who are interested in joining the party to register to become members. It can also be done online without having to go to their communities and wards.
“I want to thank the e-registration team and also thank our senatorial leader of APC, Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe, for being present to monitor the process.
“I am now a fully registered member of APC with my registration card. Every APC member should go and register to become a full member of the party.”
The coordinator of the APC e-registration exercise in Esan Central, Otoanyenlen Osedebamen, said the exercise would give equal opportunity and rights to party members, urging them to register in their polling units.
“We are in Irrua to kick-start the All Progressives Congress e-registration exercise. This exercise will give equal opportunity to all party members, and we urge all party members to go to their polling units to register.
“We are here today in the hometown of the first citizen of Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo, to register him and use the opportunity to thank him for what he is doing for Edo people. We assure him that we are right behind his administration,” he said.
The APC e-registration exercise in Edo State is aimed at galvanising grassroots participation and attracting more people into the party for inclusive governance.
