…assures on APC/PDP ‘Rainbow Coalition’ for Tinubu in Rivers
Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has put a huge question mark on his possible support for Siminalayi Fubara’s likely second term bid as governor of Rivers State, adding that he and his supporters will not repeat the mistake of 2023.
The minister was speaking at Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, during his ‘Thank you’ visit to his supporters in the LGA on Tuesday.
Wike, who had in the course of earlier visits to other LGAs, described his support that led to the emergence of Fubara’s Administration in 2023, as a mistake, emphasising that he would not repeat such a mistake in 2027.

He said that his support for the re-election of Bola Tinubu as President “is guaranteed, but suggested that such does not extend to Fubara’s possible bid for a second term.”
Wike, according to reports, had described support for Fubara’s re-election as a path to being “politically buried.”
The FCT told supporters on Tuesday that, “Let me make it clear, what’s important in life is that you made a mistake and you come out and tell people, I made a mistake and therefore I want to correct the mistakes we made.
“So, what I’m saying, the mistake we made in 2023 will not be repeated, so take it to the bank. Listen to what our elders will say, anything they tell you, know that that is where we are heading to.
“Listen to what the two chairmen of APC and PDP will say. Here we have shut the door, no other person, other than Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The other ones, listen to those I have called their names, they will let you know.
“But, to tell you, what we voted in the state in 2023, is not where we vote in the state here in 2027,” he said.
Wike pointed out that the Rivers State chapters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had collapsed into a ‘Rainbow Coalition,’ aimed at ensuring the re-election of President Bola Tinubu to a second term.
He told supporters that, “This is the only state where you can see the kind of Rainbow Coalition where the two parties are working together to make sure we return the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This Rainbow Coalition is not available in any state other than Rivers State. That’s why you see all of us, we are no longer talking about party. We are talking about the Renewed Hope family.
“And I can assure you, all of us who are original members of this Renewed Hope family, after returning as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we will return everybody we say that will run the election.”
Wike’s tour of local government areas, ostensibly on ‘Thank you’ visits to his supporters has further polarised the already tensed State.
