Alo & Peace Realty unveils mortgage access initiative to ease homeownership for Nigerians worldwide

Alo & Peace Realty, a fast-growing Africa–UK real estate company, has launched a new Mortgage Access Initiative (MAI) aimed at simplifying homeownership for Nigerians at home and in the diaspora by removing long-standing barriers around mortgage financing.

Under the initiative, Nigerians can access mortgages at fixed interest rates of between 9.5 percent and 9.75 percent per annum with repayment tenures ranging from 10 to 30 years, depending on the lender and product.

“We created the Mortgage Access Initiative to make homeownership simple again with no confusion, no hidden steps, just a clear path to owning your home,” Esther Alo, founder at Alo and Peace Reality, said.

“The demand is there, but the system hasn’t been user-friendly. MAI bridges trusted lenders, verified properties, and clear advisory, supporting clients from start to finish,” she stated.

The initiative builds on Alo & Peace Realty’s experience across the Nigerian and UK property markets. The company has sourced more than 30 properties for clients, raised capital for refurbishment projects, and managed investment-backed developments in both regions.

Its portfolio includes residential communities, joint-venture construction projects, UK care homes, and the Lagos- and Abuja-based Unity Project, a co-ownership housing model for young professionals.

The launch comes amid rising rents, increased migration, and a growing middle class seeking alternatives to outright property purchases. While demand for homeownership has grown, traditional mortgage channels have often proved difficult to navigate, especially for Nigerians abroad.

For years, mortgage uptake in Nigeria has remained low, largely due to complex banking processes, inconsistent information, and fears around hidden charges.

Alo & Peace Realty stated that MAI was designed to address these concerns head-on by offering a transparent, guided experience that clearly outlines documentation requirements, timelines, and financial obligations.

Through the initiative, the mortgage journey is broken into four clear steps, which are defining a homeownership goal, which includes buying, building, or refinancing by submitting documents online, getting matched with a trusted mortgage bank, and receiving approval with continued support until move-in.

The process can be completed entirely remotely, making it particularly attractive to Nigerians living abroad.

Alo & Peace Realty has partnered with reputable Nigerian mortgage institutions to ensure credibility and reliability. Its flagship partner, Access Bank Plc, offers a fixed interest rate of about 9.75 percent per annum, with mortgage products tailored for both local and diaspora clients and repayment tenures of up to 30 years.

The firm is also in discussions with other established lenders, including Stanbic IBTC, AG Mortgage Bank, and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN). Homebase Mortgage Bank has agreed to a 9.5 percent fixed-rate mortgage for loans of up to N100 million, specifically designed for diaspora borrowers seeking predictable financing.
Unlike complex financing structures common in large real estate projects, such as special purpose vehicles (SPVs) or escrow-heavy arrangements, MAI keeps the process straightforward. Alo & Peace Realty handles compliance and verification behind the scenes, while clients interact with a simplified, easy-to-understand framework.

Alo & Peace Realty said MAI reflects its broader mission to reshape Nigerians’ experience of real estate through transparency, support, and confidence.
“Our goal is not just to help people buy homes, but to restore peace of mind to the entire property journey,” Alo said.

Nigerians at home and abroad can begin their homeownership journey through the Mortgage Access Initiative by requesting a free mortgage consultation via the company’s website.
The programme connects aspiring homeowners with verified mortgage partners offering fixed-rate naira mortgages, while providing end-to-end guidance from initial enquiry through approval and move-in.
