Man United, Bournemouth share spoils in 8-goal thriller

Manchester United and Bournemouth settled for a point apiece after an exciting eight-goal Premier League thriller that ended 4-4 at Old Trafford.

United took control early and went ahead after 13 minutes when Amad Diallo headed home from close range, capitalising on a tactical tweak by head coach Ruben Amorim, who pushed the Ivorian into a more advanced role.

The Red Devils went into the break with a 2-1 advantage but lost the lead within seven minutes of the second half as Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier struck in quick succession to swing momentum Bournemouth’s way.

United responded emphatically. A superb Bruno Fernandes free-kick levelled the contest before Matheus Cunha fired the hosts back in front barely two minutes later, turning the match on its head for a second time.

However, Bournemouth refused to relent. Nineteen-year-old Eli Junior Kroupi drove home a dramatic equaliser six minutes from time, ensuring the Cherries came from behind for the third time to claim a deserved point.

The result cost Manchester United a place in the top five, while 13th-placed Bournemouth extended their winless run to seven matches but will take confidence from a resilient display in one of the season’s most entertaining encounters.
