Big 5 Construct Kenya officially opened today at the Sarit Expo Centre. Running until 7 November, the event was inaugurated by Giuseppe Manenti, Director, Nairobi Office, Italian Trade Agency; Kareem Hamdy, Counsellor of Egypt to Kenya; Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President, dmg events; and Tracy-Lee Behr, Event Director, dmg events, reflecting the country’s commitment to construction and infrastructure expansion and affordable housing under its Vision 2030 and sets the stage for deeper collaboration and commercial opportunities across the built environment. The opening ceremony was also attended by representatives from leading local and international exhibitors, including King Tiles, Jaquar and Evolution and Style.

With over 150 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, the exhibition gathers international expertise while remaining tailored to Kenya’s evolving market needs. The exhibition floor is busy with activity as companies present solutions that fulfil buyers’ sourcing needs to support Kenya’s ongoing and upcoming project pipeline.
From Bauer, showcasing specialist foundation engineering and mechanical equipment, to Liebherr Group presenting advanced machinery and construction solutions; Ejot Fixing Solutions presenting fastening systems for roofing, façades and solar installations; Max Truder highlighting precast concrete technologies; Maurer delivering structural and vibration solutions; and NORMA Group demonstrating pipe couplings, clamps and DCS RAPID connectors, exhibitors are engaging directly with contractors, developers and project stakeholders. These companies underline the event’s role as a hub for sourcing high-performance, efficient and sustainable construction solutions in Kenya.
Professional development through Big 5 Talks
Alongside the exhibition, the CPD-certified Big 5 Talks opened to strong attendance on day one, covering insights on project management. Sessions explored the challenges and opportunities shaping Kenya’s construction landscape. Whitney Mugo, Project Manager, Synergetic Development Group, kicked off the programme, highlighting the importance of aligning project objectives with national development goals, incorporating feasibility studies and stakeholder input as well as applying planning frameworks tailored to Kenya’s construction ecosystem.
A panel on “Project delivery in sustainable and green construction”, moderated by Dr Jennifer Wambua, Vice President of Education and Professional Development, PMI Kenya Chapter, explored how sustainability targets can be integrated into construction delivery from the outset. Kennedy Otieno, Projects Lead, Mi Vida Homes and Wilma Odalo, EDGE Expert – Green Buildings Team, Kenya Green Building Society, discussed managing project budgets and timelines while achieving EDGE and LEED certification in East Africa. Howard Aidevo Consulting and Engr Nicholas Mbai, Civil Engineering Consultant, PMI Kenya Chapter, highlighted lifecycle costing, the use of local materials and the value of aligning sustainability objectives with business priorities to deliver commercially viable and environmentally responsible projects.
