The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has graduated 174 personnel from a special capacity-building programme designed to boost tactical efficiency in combating modern security threats.
The training, themed “Enhancing Tactical Efficiency Through Modern Security Tools”, was organised in partnership with the Nigerian Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja, and formally concluded on Monday, September 8, 2025, with a passing-out ceremony in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Olusola Odumosu, Commandant of NSCDC FCT Command, described the programme as a timely intervention in the fight against sophisticated security challenges facing the country.
He noted that the training was aimed at sharpening the skills of personnel in line with evolving dynamics of security operations, stressing that courage, commitment, and effective use of modern tools were essential to protecting lives and infrastructure.

“The threats we face today, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, vandalism of critical assets, as well as emerging risks like cyber intrusions and drone-enabled crimes, are increasingly complex.
“This reality makes continuous training and tactical knowledge deployment indispensable,” Odumosu said.
He commended the Nigerian Army for its partnership, describing the collaboration as a model of inter-agency synergy necessary for achieving national security objectives.
According to him, the expertise and guidance provided by Army instructors amounted to an investment in the overall security architecture of the FCT and Nigeria at large.
The Commandant further praised the 174 graduating participants for their resilience and discipline throughout the rigorous exercise, urging them to apply their newly acquired skills to safeguard critical assets, strengthen surveillance capacity, and improve response times to security incidents.
Odumosu also charged them to intensify efforts against vandalism of public infrastructure, including streetlights, manhole covers, armoured cables, crash barriers, and power and communication installations in the FCT.
He also expressed appreciation to Ahmed Audi, Commandant-General of the NSCDC, for his continuous support and commitment to personnel development.

He said that under Audi’s leadership, the FCT Command had witnessed a sharp increase in training programmes, a development he believes would lead to drastic reductions in cases of vandalism and an increase in the arrests of perpetrators.
While encouraging the graduates to cascade the knowledge gained to their colleagues, Odumosu stressed that the ceremony marked the beginning of greater responsibility.
“You are now custodians of specialised knowledge. Apply it with professionalism, discipline, and a strong sense of duty.
“Together, we will continue to defend, secure, and protect the critical national assets and infrastructure upon which the progress of our nation depends,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by senior security officers, instructors, facilitators, and other stakeholders.
