INEC commences nationwide continuous voter registration (CVR) today


The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  has said the Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration commences today, Monday, 18, 2025.

This was revealed on the Commission’s official  X handle, published today, stating that registration commences today with the online pre-registration.

The CVR exercise is open to new voters aged 18 and above, those who wish to collect or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and individuals who need to replace lost or damaged PVCs,” it stated

The Commission informed that eligible Nigerians can commence their registration online, through the portal, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, of the physical registration to commence on August 25, 2025

The post noted that in-person registration will take place in its 37 state offices and 774 local government area(LG) offices nationwide to ensure easy access for prospective voters.  The commission advised the public to reach out via its call centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) or through its short code 4632.

INEC reiterated its commitment to consolidating democracy, assuring that every eligible voter would have the opportunity to register ahead of upcoming elections.

As of today, Monday, August 18, 2025, eligible citizens can start registering online through the dedicated portal (link unavailable), in preparation for the physical registration phase, stressing that participation in the electoral process begins with registration.

INEC again emphasised its commitment to deepening democracy by ensuring inclusivity and equal access for all eligible voters.

The commission encourages all eligible Nigerians to take advantage of this opportunity and register to vote.
