I’m not interested in AMVCA – Actor Ibrahim Chatta says after snub

Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has publicly stated that he is not interested in the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), despite being nominated in one of the ceremony’s top categories.

Chatta, who was nominated for Best Lead Actor for his role in House of GAA, lost the award to fellow actor Femi Adebayo, who starred in Seven Doors.

The 11th edition of the prestigious AMVCA awards took place on Saturday night in Lagos State.

Speaking on the podcast Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by Isbae U, Chatta gave his thoughts about nomination for the award.

When asked by the host, “Will you say you are not rated at your job? When you get home, pray that you should win AMVCA too,” the actor simply responded, “I’m not interested.”

Chatta continued, “I can’t pray for something I am not interested in. Whenever I am interested to go for AMVCA, I will make a film and submit that film. So that I can be rated, so that they can check if I deserve the award or not. But I have not given them any film to nominate me from.”
