Suspected political thugs on Monday took over the Oredo Native Govt Segment secretariat in Edo Surrounding, fighting the Chairman, Tom Obaseki, from having access to his place of business.
Armed with guns, the hoodlums took up strategic positions on the secretariat, chanting conflict songs.
The improvement pressured the embattled council boss, who had resumed paintings for the occasion, to retreat.
Obaseki said to reporters out of doors the council premises, pronouncing, “I got here right here to proceed my paintings as elected chairman of Oredo Native Govt. I met an entire batch of thugs who’ve already overtaken the council.
“This is a very disturbing trend. We are calling on the security agencies to arrest the situation. What is important is that we have a restraining order.”
Obaseki had resumed for the occasion, following the Edo Surrounding Prime Courtroom ruling on Friday which nullified his suspense along 17 alternative council chairmen.
The 18 council chairmen and their deputies had been suspended through the Edo Surrounding Area of Meeting following a petition through Governor Monday Okpebholo wherein he accused them of alleged insubordination and improper misconduct.
